Brighton rocks (Part 2: night time)

Umbrellas in Thai restaurant DSCF8054 DSCF8105 DSCF8155 DSCF8160
A few night-timey/dusky shots taken between watching bands at The Great Escape Fest. Look at those skies! The parasols were on the ceiling in a cute Thai restaurant just round the corner from our apartment. Next installment - a few gratuitous band shots.

Brighton rocks (Part 1: daytime)

DSCF8059 DSCF8067 DSCF8074 DSCF8076 DSCF8078 DSCF8124 Last month I finally, finally visited Brighton for the first time. I love a good traditional seaside resort, so to discover a new one is always a treat. I've been neglecting my little blog of late, so this is the first of a mini series to make up for it. More Brighton highlights soon!

Spring snaps

DSCF7820 DSCF7823 DSCF7833 DSCF7839 DSCF7853 DSCF7858 DSCF7862 DSCF7867 Walking to work the other day I noticed how many different signs of spring there were, even in this relatively built-up area... probably a lot of them only seen by those of us moving at a slower pace along the footpaths, peering through fences... So was inspired to take the camera out today too and capture the remnants of the blossom in between the April showers. Taken lazily with the 'flower' setting on my Fujifilm FinePix F100fd. A few more on flickr x

Not so Impossible Project

So last month I posted my first, admittedly quite disastrous, attempts at taking 'polaroid' pictures with my Impossible Project film. But my later pictures were mostly half-decent - hurrah! It was a lot of fun trying out the film... a bit demoralising when the chemicals didn't spread properly, but brilliant when they worked. I think my favourite is the sunny heather one - I can almost feel the warmth emanating from the picture!

Marion album playback party

DSCF7478 (959x1280) DSCF7484 DSCF7487 (959x1280) DSCF7490 (1280x961) DSCF7491 (1280x1280) DSCF7492 (1280x961) Yesterday I attended the playback party for Marion's third album - a live recording of their December 17th gig at Manchester's Club Academy. Having missed the gig itself, I was eager to get my Marion fix and the evening didn't disappoint - with a lovely live acoustic set and the album played back LOUD, free drinks flowing... taking pictures wasn't really top priority (and especially after seeing Natalie Curtis' rather superior photographs on display).

But wanting to at least have a small personal document of the occasion, I snapped a few on my little Finepix and then attempted to salvage something resembling a picture from them, through the wonders of photo editing!

Riding bikes in Blackpool

IMG_4046 IMG_4052 IMG_4056 IMG_4075 IMG_4097 IMG_4099 IMG_4106 We made the most of the unseasonably (well, let's be honest, it always is in the North West) hot and sunny weather and hired bikes to explore Blackpool yesterday. With my Canon EOS 400D nestled in my bike basket, I stopped intermittently to try and capture the vivid colours, shadows and silhouettes revealed by the hazy sunshine. Ah... bliss.

Many more (I am bad at self-editing) on the flickr x

The last couple of weeks saw visits to Manc from two of my favourite ladies, Laura Marling and Florence and the Machine. Both rocked (Laura rocked quietly). Here's a couple of their finer moments (click through from the photos to flickr for more). Shot on Fujifilm FinePix F100fd.
