Spring snaps

DSCF7820 DSCF7823 DSCF7833 DSCF7839 DSCF7853 DSCF7858 DSCF7862 DSCF7867 Walking to work the other day I noticed how many different signs of spring there were, even in this relatively built-up area... probably a lot of them only seen by those of us moving at a slower pace along the footpaths, peering through fences... So was inspired to take the camera out today too and capture the remnants of the blossom in between the April showers. Taken lazily with the 'flower' setting on my Fujifilm FinePix F100fd. A few more on flickr x

Walking to work in Climate Week

IMAG0135 IMAG0142 IMAG0141 IMAG0145 I walk to work most days anyway, but as it's Climate Week I decided to make a bit more of a deal of it and take some photos too. Sadly the weather wasn't too keen on the idea and a foggy morning put a bit of a dampener on things, but I still managed to seek out some early signs of spring...

This has got me plotting a more in-depth photo project for forthcoming National Walking Month and Walk to Work Week in May (when hopefully the sun will join us too!)

Ordsall through a plastic lens

85550003 85550004 85550009 85550010 I finally plucked up the courage to actually use my MEG Diana+ camera... and was rather pleased that most of the pictures actually came out ok!

These ones are my faves, but if you click through to my flickr album, you'll see the rest in their lomo-random glory. If anyone can explain the 'red ghost' who pops up on a few (is it my finger in front of the lens? is it some weirdness in the camera? it is made of red plastic... or is it @TheOrdsallGhost?!) I would appreciate it!

Look out for further adventures with my MEG's Peppermint Mask Filter and “Nobody Knows How to Talk to Children” Ringflash.

August Break #12

St Ignatius Church, Orsdall
A big Salford love-in on Twitter today (#ilovesalford) inspired me to post this picure of one of Salford's many hidden gems. This is St. Ignatius Church in Ordsall, as discovered on a recent bike ride. It's currently all locked up - such a waste of a beautiful building, but there is now a campaign to bring it back into use. Read more here on BBC News
