To celebrate The Chapman Family releasing their latest single on glorious purple vinyl, I was inspired to delve into my 7" collection and pick out some of my prettiest coloured records to share with you. My favourite is definitely the sparkly 'Sparkle'! Think I may have to do a follow up post of patterned/picture discs sometime too...
Pre-order a signed copy of The Chapman Family's This One's For Love on purple vinyl at Sound It Out or check the band's Facebook page for other options :)

North East Love #1 - Middlesbrough
Oh hi... it's been a while. Clearly that last attempt at reigniting the blog didn't quite work. So it's back to the old school, spamming anyone who cares (and probably quite a few who don't), with pictures I have taken. Simple.
The plus side to having had such a long hiatus is that I have a nice little backlog of photos to use. And looking back over the last few months I noticed that, not unsurprisingly, there is a quite obvious North East bias in their locations. Most of this is as a result of my recently heightened obsession with the North East music scene, and one noisy Teesside rock band in particular.
So let's begin the 'North East Love' mini-series with Middlesbrough...

Transporter Bridge from Doc Brown's:

The next picture has a soundtrack (NB it has many swears):

PHOTO JENNY
I've kind of been lacking direction with my photo taking lately, hence the lack of posts. But inspiration has finally arrived, thanks to The Ritas and Peter Blake exhibition at The Lowry.
I've been absorbing so much creativity lately, mainly by going to lots and lots of gigs, I felt like I needed to put some of it back out there... and so this project was staring me in the face. Nothing earth-shatteringly original about it, but it's giving me some direction and purpose for taking pictures, so hopefully something good will come out of it at some point...
It's simple concept: I choose a great lyric and I take a picture (or find one from the archives) to illustrate it. Then I'll share the results. And if you have a lyric that you want me to try and encapsulate in an image, I'm up for the challenge!
So here goes...

Picture: Me with Mr Nicholas Wire at National Treasures signing, HMV Manchester, October 2011 (thanks to @littlebabyfran for taking the pic)
Lyric: Enola/Alone - Manic Street Preachers

Picture: Blackpool, February 2011
Lyric: Everyday is Like Sunday - Morrissey
P.S. Photo Jenny is a Belle & Sebastian song, so it seemed like an apt title (and I'll use #PhotoJenny when I tweet new pics) x

Latitude 2010 Memories
Angus and Julia Stone
David Ford
Frankie (& the Heartstrings)
Brigitte Aphrodite
This is the longest I have ever gone in my adult life without attending a music festival (I think). The last one was Latitude 2010 and it was one of the most magical... even the wellies that we insisted on wearing one day were needless, as it was pretty much wall to wall sunshine, glorious music, theatre, poetry, comedy, smiley people. Four days of absolute heaven. Next week I'll attend Latitude 2012 and if it's even half as good, I'll be a happy Jenny.
As ever, more on the flickr if you want them x

Brighton rocks (Part 2: night time)
A few night-timey/dusky shots taken between watching bands at The Great Escape Fest. Look at those skies! The parasols were on the ceiling in a cute Thai restaurant just round the corner from our apartment. Next installment - a few gratuitous band shots.
